PHOTOGRAPHY JUDGES

Judging is a tall task. For this edition of the WUN Awards, we have a hearty crew of Imagen ambassadors to thank! This international crew of judges come with seasoned eyes. They have their work cut out for them to name the winners who will take the top prizes!

37 FRAMES

Tracey & Dee together make ‘37 Frames.’ The award-winning pair have been featured in publications such as Vogue yet still see their work still as a never-ending work in progress. Australian and Tasmanian born but based in Tokyo for over 20 years. Their business name came from the 36 frames in a roll of film, but everyone always got one extra frame - that one last lucky shot.

The Framers

The Framers are Filipa and Rodrigo, both from Portugal and a couple for 16 years. They're absolutely passionate about photography and have been shooting weddings together for 10 years. What really moves them in wedding photography is to grasp all those small moments that otherwise would pass us by unnoticed but, once captured, have the power to generate a reaction in anyone who sees them!

Liam + Bee

Liam + Bee are a multi award winning UK wedding photography duo who have been photographing weddings worldwide since 2002. They have a unique partnership within the industry with Liam being the photographer and Bee being image editor. With a strong emphasis on the landscape, striking compositions and humour ... their style has seen them shoot over 900 weddings and attracts couples from all over the world.

Anna Gadalean

Anna from Ginger’s Eyes is a wedding and couple photographer whose style features a mix of editorial, artful and documentary photography. Based in beautiful Barcelona, Anna lives and breathes art and believes that diversity is the key to fueling her creativity.

Fer Juaristi

Fer Juaristi is a destination wedding photographer based in Monterrey, Mexico who is a father, a friend, a traveler, and a husband.

Frequently Asked Questions

general-information

How will I know if I win?

On April 5th, we will contact the top three entries for the Nomination contests. Those top three are the shortlist for the contest. Then in Prague at Way Up North, we announce the winner.

Can I nominate myself?

For these contests, no, you cannot nominate yourself. If you nominate yourself, it does not count.

How will I know if I have been nominated?

Those who receive nominations know on January 15th. On that date, we invite the nominees to continue with the contest.

When are nominations accepted?

If you’d like to nominate someone, you can do so until January 10th, 2023.

If I’m Nominated, what should I prepare?

We will ask you for your top 10 photos for the photography categories or a film from the video category. This body of work represents the work you want the judges to evaluate you on.

How Do The Nomination Contests Work Exactly?

Step one, artists are nominated. Nominations can from anyone, anywhere.

Step two, if you get a nomination we invite you to take part. There is a €10 entry fee if you choose to continue, and from there we ask you to submit work. The submitted work gets judged, and the winners are those who receive the highest scores.

Do people need to attend Way Up North™ to enter or win?

Anyone can be nominated or enter the contests, regardless if you’re attending WUN or not.

How many photos and videos can I enter?

As many as you like – there is no limit.

When Can A Photo Have Been From To Enter?

Anything taken in 2022 is fine.

I Work With A Partner In A Studio – How Does My Submission Work?

For the contest, we are highlighting the individuals who took the photo. We will mention your studio if you win, but it is the accomplishment of the individual as the winner.

Are Triptych or Combined Photos Allowed?

No, only single photos. Double-exposures are fine. The intent with the contests are to celebrate photography, not digital art per se. So if it is not a photograph you have taken, rather a piece of digital art you have created, it is not applicable.

What about multiple day weddings?

This is a contest that focuses on wedding films and photos. Weddings over multiple days are fine as long as each day has a ceremony. A day full of portraits but no other wedding elements aside from the clothes is not welcome in this contest.

What About Workshops or Styled Shoots?

If the photos are not from a wedding day where a ceremony took place, they are not welcome in this competition.

Non-Wedding Day Photos – Are Those Fine For The Awards?

No, only photos from the ceremony day of a wedding. So any photos that are from outside of a wedding day are not welcome for the WUN Awards.

Who Can Enter The Contests?

Anyone from anywhere, from any skill level. This is an international competition celebrating the wonderful world of wedding creatives.
