One of the most interesting categories at the Way Up North Awards is Europe’s Wedding Story of the Year. For the second year in a row, a French photographer has won the top prize, with Benjamin Martinot taking the 2019 edition. Benjamin’s brand name is Deux drôles d’oiseaux, and he is part of a team that offers both video and photography services.

The two finalists this year were Everbay (Laura & Stu’s Wedding) and Wianda Bongen (Marijke & Jip’s Wedding)

Stéphanie and Thomas’ wedding took place in an atypical place: Les Bonnes Joies (near Paris).

This immense and sublime loft combines a modern, industrial and rustic style. It offers an exceptional scenery and a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. One of the most beautiful place in France to get married.

It was in a country themed that our two lovers organized their reception. Everything was magnificent! The dinning tables, the vintage decorations, the flowers…

The day was very intense and started very early in the morning. We followed our bride and groom in one of the rooms and shared a calm and intimate moment with them. The light was perfect, we played with shadows and light, that we particularly like. This moment was our restful moment because after that, the race started!

The bride had planned everything, maybe a little too much. Everything was very organized and therefore very well timed. It was sometimes a bit difficult to follow such an intense day. But, fatigue didn’t get the better of us! We were there until… 2am!

Their entry into the room was particularly festive! All the guests danced, sang and shouted! Capturing this crazy atmosphere was a real pleasure, one of the most joyful moments of the day!

We had mostly watched inspirational visuals for the shoot in the bathtub. It was our first time ! But during the day, as usual, we let improvisation express itself.
