Q: How long have you been a wedding photographer?
A: I took my first portrait in 2005. By 2012, photography became my main business—before that, I was a graphic designer.
Q: Do you think you have the ideal kit bag for weddings now? How long did it take to get to this point?
A: Yes, I love all the lenses I have, some over 30 years old, like my 135mm, f2.0. I’ve had a few since the beginning, nearly 20 years ago.
Q: Which gear do you rely on most for weddings? Are there any must-haves?
A: I use the Canon EF 35mm, f1.4, and Canon RF 50mm, f1.2 for almost the whole wedding. For the party, I can’t do without my 16-35mm, f2.8.
Q: Are you considering selling or upgrading any gear soon?
A: Yes, I’m planning to upgrade my Canon R5 to the new Mark II. I also want to get the 28-70mm, f2.0 lens.
Q: How do you know when it’s time to retire a piece of gear?
A: I always use my gear until it’s completely worn out, unless a newer, better version becomes available.
