Positano Wedding Photographer

This isn’t the story you’d expect from a group of Icelanders, as it’d be more expected from a Positano wedding photographer. Kristin Maria is a Icelandic wedding photographer based in Reykjavík who travelled to Italy with – literally – her peers from Pink Iceland.

Setting The Scene

I had the opportunity to travel with a group of gorgeous people to Positano, Italy for a destination wedding with the couples closest people in a pink villa in the hills of Positano.

The ceremony was held in the lemon garden of the villa officiated by Hannes, their friend. Eva and Birna share a close connection to Italy so Positano was a natural choice.

Overcoming The Climate

Working in Iceland I’ve seen most weather and know how to make it work every single time. Hail in August or sunshine in December.

The portrait session in Positano with stable heat around 24° and sunshine was definitely not something I, the polar-bear am used to. It was a huge challenge that I’ll be able to appreciate even more working up north.

Nonetheless, shooting a wedding in Italy has always been a dream of mine. So I went in to this with a completely open mind just capturing the human interactions and details I met along the way. Which, granted, is way more in Italy than in Iceland (the human interactions).

Thunder, Lightning, & RuPaul

Instead of a traditional first dance, E&B threw down to “Sissy that walk” by RuPaul along with part of the bridal party.

It was epic to say the least.

Mean while, thunder and lightning was echoing outside creating an out of this world mood.

The Team

The venue for the day was absolutely amazing – Villa San Giacomo. Kaco Films, a familiar face in Iceland, was behind the film.

Wedding Italy was the planner that planned a wedding for her fellow wedding planners surely felt a bit of pressure right there, but she did amazing.

And of course the couple and officiant extraordinaire was provided by the team at Pink Iceland.
