When & Where

April 21st + 22nd, 2026

We’ll be working out of Lagos on Portugal’s southern coast. The Algarve’s dramatic cliff formations, golden beaches, and coastal architecture are insane backdrops for destination weddings and elopements. Locations like Ponta da Piedade, Benagil Cave, Praia do Camilo, and the historic streets of Lagos offer the kind of visual variety that strengthens portfolios.

The region is accessible and manageable to work in, and April offers excellent light and mild weather before peak summer season. We’ve researched locations that work well for nailing the locations with an efficient plan – dramatic natural settings combined with architectural interest.

If you’re building elopement work into your portfolio, the Algarve provides distinctive imagery that clients respond to. The workshop focuses on creating strong portfolio pieces while covering the practical considerations of shooting in coastal environments.

What We’re Shooting

This is a elopement photography workshop. One real couple per day in wedding attire – not models, just couples comfortable in front of the camera. April 21st with one couple, April 22nd with another.

If you’re building or expanding your elopement portfolio, particularly for destination work, this is structured specifically for that. The focus is couples photography in an elopement context, working with natural light and varied locations to create the kind of images that book clients.

Format & Size

April 21st + 22nd will be full shooting days, working through coastal and architectural locations. Expect movement between clifftop viewpoints, beach locations, and historic areas – the Algarve’s variety is its strength.

Sessions will include practical direction on working with couples in varied environments, managing coastal light conditions, and composition in both natural and built settings. Business discussions will cover pricing destination work, client communication, and portfolio strategy.

Small group size ensures individual attention and meaningful feedback on your work.

Hosts

Cole Roberts

Cole is the co-founder of Way Up North, Nordica, Hop Farm Beach and has been a Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2016. Living in Gävle, Sweden with his family, he often dreams of more time at his cabin, immersed in nature, chopping wood, and enjoying country music.

Included / Not-included

We recommend flying to Faro Airport. Our base for the workshop will be Lagos, about an hour’s drive west along the coast.

If your arrival at Faro aligns with our hosts’ schedule on April 20th, we can coordinate transportation to Lagos. Similarly, if your departure on April 23rd matches the hosts’ schedule, we can arrange the return journey. Otherwise, you’ll need to arrange your own transport between Faro and Lagos – rental cars, buses, and transfers are all readily available.

We will provide transportation during workshop days, April 21st and 22nd, as we move between shooting locations along the coast.

We’ll meet the evening of April 20th in Lagos to review the shooting plan and discuss locations. April 21st and 22nd are dedicated to photography from sunrise through evening light – full days of shooting.

Accommodation in Lagos is your responsibility, and workshop fees don’t include meals or drinks. We can share recommendations for accommodations that balance access to locations with budget considerations.

Want to Model in the Algarve?

We are seeking two couples to photograph during our Algarve workshop. If you are a photographer or filmmaker and interested in this opportunity, please get in touch.

The arrangement is simple: you model on one day of the workshop and participate as a regular workshop attendee on the other day (when you’re not modelling). Naturally, you will receive copies of the photos. It’s best if couples bring their own wedding attire, but if that’s not possible, let us know and we can assist in arranging a dress. Typically, the two model couples share a car rental, which helps manage costs effectively. Your expenses will include flights, shared car rental, and accommodations. There are no fees for participating in the workshop itself.
