Format + Size

This is an intense workshop and demanding. The day is long as we will photograph at sunrise and sunset. We will be hitting up as many spots as possible throughout the day. So a warning – we go hard and you can expect a very long day. Outside the photography and filming, there is a midday workshop which focus entirely on hybrid. So if you have a tiny film itch to scratch (or vice versa), this workshop is for you because there will be a balance between film and photography!

The workshop is for 7 guests, plus the hosts and two couples we photograph. Yes, two couples (one before lunch, one after).

Hosts

Taylor Jackson and Cole Roberts will host this workshop. Taylor Jackson is a Canadian wedding photographer and filmmaker. When he’s not at a wedding, Taylor enjoys making YouTube films for his channel (591k subscribers – nbd). The allure of Icelandic hotdogs has kept him coming back for over 30 visits to the tiny, windy island. His favorite hotdog stand is in Reykjavik. He looks forward to showing off this little stand to the workshop guests this April!

Cole Roberts will host this workshop. He is the co-founder of Way Up North, Kolla, Nordica, and has been a Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2016. He lives in Gävle, Sweden with his wife and three kids. He wishes he spent more time at his cabin chopping wood and lighting fires while listening to country music.

Included / Not-included

Accommodations are not included. We will be spending two nights in Reykjavik (September 4th and 5th). We will introduce the group to one another when the workshop is full. Based on the intros, you may choose to share rooms if you’re looking to lower costs. We will recommend one hotel in Reykjavik for you to consider, but of course, you’re welcome to book anywhere you choose in the city center.

The workshop includes transportation on September 5th. Rides between Keflavik Airport and Reykjavik are included only if our flights are landing/departing at the same times. Otherwise, it is the responsibility of the guests to arrange this part of their trip. Guests are responsible for their travels to and from Iceland. Food and beverages are not included.

Key workshop takeaways:

  • An introduction to working hybrid (video and photography)
  • Understanding the how and why behind offering both video and photography
  • Fundamentals to video and photography edits
  • Shooting for the edit
  • An insane adventure in Iceland with an experienced host who knows the spots
