This workshop is designed for a small group who thrive on mountainous terrain and adventurous exploration. While we’ll enjoy Madeira’s breathtaking cliffside views and beautiful beaches, the true excitement will come from exploring its majestic mountains.

When & Where
November 5th + 6th, 2024
Funchal will serve as home base for this workshop. Guests should plan to arrive at Madeira Airport (FNC) any time before November 4th. The workshop will take place on November 5th and 6th, with no scheduled activities outside these dates. Funchal is just about 15 minutes from the airport, so once you land, a quick cab ride will get you to where the group will be gathering!
Format & Size
This workshop is intensely focused on photography and involves physical activity, including hiking on safe, mostly flat trails with some uphill sections. We’ll photograph one couple each day during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset. Our goal is to cover as many picturesque locations as we can in a short period, making this a true photography-centric experience.
Aside from taking photos, we’ll use our midday breaks for group discussions. These sessions will cover business insights and explore your development as an artistic entrepreneur. But as with past workshops, we expect that the primary focus for most participants will be on capturing stunning images and exploring the beautiful scenery.
Want to Model in Madeira?
We are seeking two couples to photograph during our Madeira workshop. If you are a photographer or filmmaker and interested in this opportunity, please get in touch.
The arrangement is simple: you model for half the day and participate as a regular workshop attendee for the other half. Naturally, you will receive copies of the photos. It’s best if couples bring their own wedding attire, but if that’s not possible, let us know and we can assist in arranging a dress. Typically, the two model couples share a car rental, which helps manage costs effectively. Your expenses will include flights, shared car rental, and accommodations. There are no fees for participating in the workshop itself.

Cole Roberts
Cole is the co-founder of Way Up North, Kolla, Nordica and has been a Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2016. He lives in Gävle, Sweden with his wife and three kids. He wishes he spent more time at his cabin chopping wood and lighting fires while listening to country music.
Included / Not-included
Accommodations are not included. We will recommend a hotel in Funchal for the group to stay at, which of course is optional. For the trip, Funchal will be home-base and where we stay. You can expect a WhatsApp group to be setup and based on the intros, you may choose to share rooms if you’re looking to lower costs. The workshop includes transportation on March 19th and 20th – the days of the workshop. Food and beverages are not included.
