Way Up North + Wooden Banana Supper Club

Dinner plans for February 4th? If you’re in Reykjavík, Zagreb, Stockholm, Lisbon (or any of the other cities we’re gathering in), pull up a chair. Here’s what’s happening: photographers across Europe will gather for an evening of food and conversation. In each city, a local host has chosen a restaurant and reserved a table for six. We have five spots available to join each dinner, but here’s the twist – you won’t know where you’re eating or who you’ll be dining with until you meet that evening. It’s not a workshop, not a networking event, just dinner with fellow photographers. Ready to grab a seat at the table?

The Idea

We’ve always thought of Way Up North as a hospitality brand that just happens to host events. So for 2025, we’re leaning into that identity more – starting with something wonderfully simple: dinner.

There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal. No agenda, no expectations – just good food and conversation. And somehow the food tastes even better when there are no strings attached, when you’re simply there to enjoy the company and the moment.

While brainstorming with Wooden Banana, we talked about how many photographers work alone. Sure, there’s social media and endless DMs, but actual face-to-face connections? They’re becoming rare. That conversation led to a simple thought: what if we just got photographers together for dinner?

How It Works

On February 4th, photographers will gather for dinner in cities across Europe. In each city, we have a local host who’ll choose a restaurant and make a reservation for six people. The twist? If you join, you won’t know where you’re eating or who you’re dining with until you meet up that evening.

The host will pick somewhere good but not extravagant. The bill can be split however the group decides on the night. And just to make things interesting, Wooden Banana will reimburse one city’s entire dinner bill (but we’ll get to that part later).

The list of participating cities is too long to share here, but check the product page below to see if yours is listed. And if it’s not? Let us know before December 31st – we’re keen to add more cities if people want to host on February 4th.

There’s a €10 booking fee to join. Why? Because we’ve learned that having some skin in the game makes people show up. That money goes directly to your host – they might use it toward the dinner, offer it as a prize, or keep it as thanks for organising. This isn’t about profit – it’s about commitment.

The Community

This idea perfectly demonstrates what makes the Way Up North community so remarkable. We brainstormed this concept and then asked one simple question on our Instagram story: “Do you know of 10 wedding photographers in your city? If yes, what city?”

We emailed everyone who responded, and here we are – a Europe-wide dinner party coming together in a single day. That’s the power of community, and we’re incredibly grateful to be able to do things like this.
