Welcome to Way Up North Valencia, our 20th edition and our first trip to Spain. The theme of the event is THE NEW WAVE, and each presenter below will interpret it their own way.
Over the two days everything happens between Teatro Talia and Museo L'Iber. This is the first time we have used two venues this way, so we want to be clear about it.
Museo L'Iber is where we gather in the mornings before the show starts, and where you go during every break. Food and drink are available to buy inside, and the sponsors are set up there. We understand the temptation to wander. Stay in this area.
Teatro Talia is where the presentations happen. It is across a walking path from Museo L'Iber. The two are right beside each other.
Museo L'Iber for mornings and breaks. Teatro Talia for the presentations.
Ten steps between the two, along a walking path. The talks are in the theatre. Coffee, lunch, the sponsors and both mingles are in the museum. Nothing to eat or drink inside the cinema.

Workshops & Registration
Canon Styled Shoots, 12:00 – 17:30
Run by Canon and Capture One
Canon and Capture One run the styled shoots on the Monday. We keep them out of the ticket because some years they do not happen at all, and when they do there are always more people who want a spot than there are spots.
This year they are on. We are still working out how registration runs, meaning how many places there are and which time slots. Everyone with a ticket gets a newsletter telling you the exact moment spots open. From then it is first come, first served.
Upstairs at Palacio Vallier, two hours with The Boudoir Album and Valeria Galán. Twenty-five places.
Sign-up is not open yet. Same as the styled shoots, everyone with a ticket gets a newsletter telling you the exact moment spots open, and from then it is first come, first served.
Event registration has moved. It is at Las Tenerías from 18:00, a few minutes’ walk north towards the Serranos towers, so you can collect your badge after.
Las Tenerías is the restaurant inside the hotel. We have a table set up in there.
Bring yourself. We will find your name on the list and give you your badge.
You need that badge to get into the cinema. If you cannot make Monday, pick it up at Teatro Talia on the day, or send someone else for it.

Day One
Your host, Fleur Vanden Bosch
Fleur opens the show on Tuesday morning and is with you through to the close on Wednesday. A wedding photographer from Dilbeek in Belgium, she got the job by answering an open call for a host in Brussels with “I am not afraid to talk in front of a lot of people.”
The welcome, the introductions, the handovers between blocks, and the begging you to be back on time after the breaks. When something goes wrong on stage, she is the one who makes you forget it did.
An hour in the Old Town before the day starts. Meet outside Museo L’Iber, leave at seven sharp, and come back to the museum for coffee. Sunrise is around eight, so the first half is blue hour and Dan has a light with him.
Thirty places. Free, ticket holders only, and you are back well before the cinema doors open at nine. Take your place.
Coffee in the Courtyard, 08:00 – 09:00
Museo L'Iber
Carrer dels Cavallers 22
Nothing runs in the theatre until nine, so the first hour is at Museo L'Iber. Coffee, badge pickup, sponsors at their stands, someone playing guitar. Come early.

Carrer dels Cavallers 31
Seating is first come, first served. You need your badge on to get in.

The Luxury of Being Real
Today's couples are looking for more than beautiful images. This talk explores how storytelling, emotion, trust, editorial aesthetics and film photography are redefining the future of luxury wedding photography.
What is being said and what is not. As the industry moves faster, more curated and more artificial, photographers are asked to understand people more accurately.
Ninety-five minutes, the longest gap of the two days
Block Three

Bringing Editorial Storytelling to Weddings
From fashion editorials and personal projects to weddings. Discover how one cinematic, painterly vision shaped my journey and why I photograph couples like editorial protagonists.
A story about the ordinary moments that shape us, and why the artists we remember are not the ones who follow the wave. They are the ones who become it.
Orly Morgenstern leads a walk into El Carmen for golden hour, finishing at a bar nearby. Meet at the Imagen stand inside Museo L'Iber. Two of you get photographed instead of doing the photographing.
Museo L'Iber again from eight. You know more people today than you did yesterday, so give yourself the hour.
Cinema Doors Open, 09:00
Teatro Talia
Carrer dels Cavallers 31
Badge on. Seating is still first come, first served.
Block Five
Irena Bajceta, 09:00 – 10:00

Before It Becomes A Memory
Trends change. Technology changes. People leave. A talk about remembering what makes photography irreplaceable: real presence, real emotion and real human connection.
We used to create one thing for everyone. Now every wedding feeds two competing economies. A question about novelty, attention, and the images that refuse to age.
Exploring the universe and deep time, this talk charts a course of creativity and meaning through the noise of generic Pinterest boards and social media saturation.
A fresh perspective on what it means to be a wedding photographer today, where photography grows from creative direction, connection and intentional visibility.
Why we teamed up to bring our advertising photography approach to the wedding industry, to deliver highly praised work that isn't defined by a single aesthetic and evolves with every new wave.
Last break of the show. Anyone you have been meaning to talk to is at Museo L'Iber right now.
Block Eight
Dan Pinckard, 16:00 – 17:00
