Way Up North is unique in the sense that we host the show twice a year, spring and fall. That’s one side of the coin. The other is that we rotate the host city around Europe. Stockholm is home, but we can’t host the show there too often, which means picking a new place around Europe every six months and returning home to Sweden every few years.

This is trickier than you might expect, especially with a wish list for the host venue. Right tech, sponsor layout, capacity, and a city people want to be in. Details that aren’t much fun to share. You only need to know it’ll be solid.

Every city looks great on paper

Picking a venue is a bit like a director scouting locations for a film. Every city looks great on paper. Most of them fall apart on the walkthrough.

Then you learnThe venue needs external tech rented in. Something we can’t work with, hard lesson learned.

Then you learnThe sponsor setup is tucked away in a corner far from the action. Another hard lesson learned, sorry sponsors.

Then you learnThe venue closes at an irregular hour and everyone gets kicked out before the conversations get going.

There’s a long list of reasons why a city you’d think would be a perfect fit simply isn’t. However, this one is.

We finally nailed down the host city and venue for the spring, and this took longer than usual because we’re heading to a new (big) city.

Tickets are available now, and the show is on May 4th and 5th. We’ll announce the city at the end of our gathering this October in València, but a few hints are fair.

Two hints

First hint, in case you’re travelling from outside Europe: the airport is one of the biggest on the continent. Large, busy, flights from everywhere. We’re not asking you to make three connections to get there.

Second hint: this is a city you’ve been asking us to host in for years, and for reasonable reasons given how many weddings happen there. We’ve wanted it too. The holdup was always the venue. Now we have one.

On the price

Ticket prices go up fast. Buy early and you’ll likely save enough on the ticket to cover your flights within Europe. May in this city is going to be a dream, and we’ve been trying to get here for years.
