What This Workshop Actually Is
Fer doesn’t teach posing or lighting setups. He’ll push you to make your photography more personal. To stop copying what everyone else does and figure out what matters to you.
His focus:
- Making work that’s yours, not borrowed from someone else’s style
- Getting clients who value your vision
- Mixing composition with actual emotion
- Creating images that feel like the moment, not a recreation of it
- Processing work with intention
You won’t leave with a formula. You’ll leave questioning things. That’s the point.
Format & Size
10 photographers. The day breaks down like this:
Morning: Fer talks about his approach – the how and why behind his work, the inspiration, his formulas for creating images that matter.
First shoot: One couple, wedding attire. Watch Fer work, shoot alongside him.
Review: Look at what just happened, discuss the results.
Lunch break.
Second shoot: Different couple, different approach, casual attire.
Editing session: Roughly an hour of Fer walking through his editing process.
Q&A: Whatever questions are left.
Fer lets moments happen. No rigid direction. You figure it out by doing.
Hosts
Fer Juaristi
Fer (Instagram) shoots weddings in Mexico. His approach: be a friend to the couple, let things unfold naturally, capture what’s actually happening. No posing. No forced moments. He left a stable career to do this full-time and hasn’t regretted it.
Cole Roberts
Cole is the co-founder of Way Up North, Hop Farm Beach, Nordica and has been a Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2016. He lives in Gävle, Sweden with his wife and three kids.
History
Fer and Cole first co-hosted a workshop in Vancouver in 2011. They’ve shot weddings together in Iceland and the Yukon, ran another workshop in Stockholm in 2014, and Fer was Way Up North’s very first presenter back when the community started. Fifteen years of working together means the dynamic works.

We need two couples. If you’re a photographer or filmmaker interested, get in touch.
The setup: you model for one session, participate normally during the other. You get copies of all photos. Bring your own wedding attire if you’re the couple modeling the wedding session. Your costs: flights and accommodation. No workshop fee.
