Madeira delivers spectacular mountain vistas and rugged coastline that photographers love. Two days capturing couples in wedding attire against backdrops that elevate your portfolio. Co-hosted by Cole Roberts and Taylor Jackson.
This workshop is built for a small group ready to explore. Expect clifftop views, lush mountains, and dramatic beaches – all compressed into two intense days of shooting.

When & Where
March 10th + 11th, 2026
Funchal serves as home base. Plan to arrive at Madeira Airport (FNC) anytime before March 9th. The workshop runs March 10th and 11th – nothing scheduled outside these two days. Airport to Funchal is roughly 15 minutes, so you’re in quickly once you land.
Format & Size
Photography-focused with physical activity included. Expect hiking on safe trails with some uphill sections. We’ll photograph one couple each day during golden hour – sunrise and sunset. The goal: cover as many locations as possible in a condensed window. Maximum 8 participants, plus host and couples.
Midday breaks are for group discussions – business insights, artistic development, entrepreneurial strategy. But realistically, most of your energy will go toward shooting stunning work and exploring Madeira’s landscape.
Hosts
Taylor Jackson
Taylor Jackson is a Canadian wedding photographer and filmmaker who shoots both photo and video at weddings – the hybrid approach most photographers want to understand but haven’t figured out yet. He creates films for his YouTube channel (591k subscribers), sharing techniques and behind-the-scenes insights from his work. Taylor’s strength is making the transition from photo-only to hybrid coverage feel manageable rather than overwhelming.
Cole Roberts
Cole is the co-founder of Way Up North, Hop Farm Beach, Nordica and has been a Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2016. He lives in Gävle, Sweden with his wife and three kids. He wishes he spent more time at his cabin chopping wood and lighting fires while listening to country music.
Want to Model in Madeira?
We need two couples to photograph during this workshop. If you’re a photographer or filmmaker interested, get in touch.
The arrangement: you model one day, participate as a regular attendee the other day. You’ll receive copies of all photos. You’ll need to bring your own wedding attire. The two model couples typically share a car rental to manage costs. Your expenses: flights, shared car rental, accommodations. No workshop fees.

Included / Not Included
Accommodations aren’t included. We’ll recommend a hotel in Funchal where the group can stay – optional, of course. A WhatsApp group will be set up before the trip, and based on intros, you may choose to share rooms to lower costs. Transportation is included on March 10th and 11th – the workshop days. Food and beverages aren’t included.
Madeira’s roads are notoriously windy. Many guests choose to rent their own car to avoid car sickness rather than relying on shared transport. This is completely fine and common for this workshop.
Recommended Hotel
Our recommended hotel is Enotel Magnólia. However, guests are welcome to stay anywhere that suits them so long as it’s located in Funchal.
