Welcome to Mallorca!
We’re so happy you’re coming to the workshop in beautiful Mallorca, and we look forward to meeting everyone! To make things a bit smoother for you, we’ve created this landing page to introduce the group and help shape the day we’ll spend together in a clear way. Also, it’s nice to have information like vendors and tags all in one place, so hopefully this page helps with that. Let’s go!
March 3rd Meet-up
The evening before the workshop, we’ll meet for a group gathering at 18:00 at Moltabarra (map). This is a bar with nice quite a bit of seating, so a good spot for a hang. It does have food, but only basics, so it’s more or a “grab a drink” kind of place.
General Thinking Each Day
Elopement Style Planning
The way the days are planned is much how a real elopement would be planned. We know the key spots for sunrise and sunset, and a midday spot to connect the two. So while that might seem vague and very open-ended, this is the thinking that we believe will lead to the best photos overall.
Sunrise, Sunset, and Midday Strategy
When planning an elopement, my thinking typically is this straightforward: where on the map can I locate a high-elevation location that’s easy to get to which allows me to shoot into the sun at sunrise, and shoot into the sun at sunset. If I can find a spot like that, it’s setting things up for success. Then midday, the expectation and hope is that it will be nice weather, so the thinking is a nice spot which has cover yet captures the aesthetic of the place. In between those ideas, it’s normally spontaneous with locations, which this workshop will be as well.
Food and Breaks
Food is a common question at the workshops. Rest assured we will take breaks throughout the days, grab delicious coffees and pastries when the timing feels right, and make sure everyone is getting rest. So the days are not 14 hours straight of grinding, yet at the same time, this is not the type of workshop with a refined itinerary and perfectly executed reservation times. For better or for worse, the spontaneous approach works.
Preparation for Meals
With food, it’s a smart idea to prepare on the Monday the 3rd by buying some light snacks to tide you over. For example, each morning when we leave, there will be nothing open when we get in the cars and go. So prepping something for a light breakfast is advised. So if you only think about something to eat in the early mornings, that’s really all you need to prepare because there will be stops throughout the days.
Attire Recommendations
Finally, attire. The only time during the workshop when we might be cold is the morning on day one. It can be a very windy spot, it is high elevation, and before the sun rises it definitely can be chilly. After the sun rises though, obviously it’s Mallorca and we expect it to be beautiful. An additional consideration with clothes is comfortable shoes that you can walk on rocky trails with throughout the day – this is not a stilettos and golf course cut greens type of workshop. It’s more of a “there’s a rocky path up a mountain, let’s go up the mountain” type workshop.
Gear Suggestions
That final comment about mountains also ties into the gear we recommend for the workshop. Less is more. Normally guests have either one body with two lenses (wide / long) or two bodies with one lens each. It’s very rare that we see guests with full-on flash setups, but of course if you want to bring that you can. Generally speaking though, being mobile is our recommendation.

After The Workshop
What might be unique about this workshop is that afterward, we compile all the photos everyone took into one gallery. We do this for two reasons:
- It provides easy access to the vendors who contributed their time and resources, as well as the couples.
- It’s an excellent exercise for everyone to review the work of others—you’d be surprised at what you see in their edits and what they noticed during the trip.
We set a deadline for this so it doesn’t linger forever, and the deadline is end of March and the gallery will be emailed on April 1st (no joke).
You can email your photos to [email protected]. High-res or low-res, 2 photos or 20,000—it doesn’t matter. We don’t police what you send, but we kindly ask that you send something.
