When & Where
August 25th – 27th, 2026. Eyrarbakki, Iceland. A small seaside village on the edge of the North Atlantic. Arrive around noon on the 25th, full day on the 26th, check out at noon on the 27th.
The Workshop
Styrmir and Heiðdís have photographed over 300 weddings and elopements across Iceland. Their entire career has been built in conditions most photographers would walk away from. Wind that pulls at everything. Light that barely exists. Couples shivering on volcanic rock. They know how to make all of that work.
Over two days, you’ll photograph real couples on black sand beaches and along the rougher, less-travelled edges of the Icelandic coast. No controlled setups. No golden-hour guarantees. You’ll learn how to read light when it’s fading, how to guide people when they’re cold and unsure, and how to make images that carry weight in conditions that fight you every step.
They call it As Witnessed by the Wind. Once you’ve stood on a black sand beach with the Atlantic making all the decisions, you’ll understand why.
The Days
Day One (August 25th) Arrive at the villa around 16:00. Shared lunch. An open conversation about how Styrmir and Heiðdís work: reading difficult light, guiding couples in hard weather, staying grounded when plans fall apart. Then straight out to a nearby black sand beach for the first shoot. Dinner together. Hot tub. Sauna. Fire.
Day Two (August 26th) Deeper into the work, then further out into the landscape. Rougher terrain, more resistance, more to work with. You end the day back at the villa. Slower. Fuller. With images you couldn’t have made anywhere else.
Day Three (August 27th) Check out at noon.
Where You’ll Stay
Everyone stays together at a villa on the edge of the North Atlantic. Private rooms with double beds, shared with a partner or alone if you prefer. Ocean-facing balconies, hot tub, sauna, and wind at the doorstep. Shared meals, slow mornings, and the kind of conversations that keep going long after the shoots wrap.
Getting There
Transportation to Eyrarbakki is not included. We’ll set up a WhatsApp group ahead of time so everyone can connect, coordinate rides, and arrive together if possible.

Included
Accommodation at the villa in private rooms, all meals during the workshop, and two full days of workshop sessions and shoots.
Not Included
Flights to and from Iceland, and transportation to Eyrarbakki. Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements.
