Malta Elopement Workshop

795.00 +VAT

March 10 + 11. Two days. Two couples. Mediterranean portfolio expansion.

Two couples in wedding attire navigating Valletta’s baroque streets and Malta’s coastal edges, giving you the portfolio range to confidently pitch destination work in a location that’s increasingly popular with couples seeking something different from the usual European wedding spots.

The advantage: Malta’s compact geography means we’re never far from our next location. Golden limestone, harbour views, and Mediterranean light without the summer crowds or heat. Cole’s approach is straightforward – practical direction, honest feedback, and maximising shooting time over everything else.

When & Where

March 10th + 11th, 2026

We’ll be working out of Valletta, Malta’s fortified capital city. The entire island is compact – nothing is more than 30 minutes away – which means we can move efficiently between locations without burning daylight on transit.

Malta’s strength as a workshop location is its variety. Golden limestone architecture, Mediterranean coastline, narrow baroque streets, and harbour views all within easy reach. The light here in March is clean and directional without the harsh intensity of summer. We’ve scouted locations that work specifically for couples photography – places with good backgrounds, manageable crowds, and the kind of visual interest that elevates your work.

This is our first workshop in Malta, and we’re approaching it with fresh eyes and realistic expectations. The goal is simple: help you capture strong portfolio work in a location that offers something different from the usual workshop destinations.

Format & Size

March 10th + 11th will be full shooting days. Expect early starts for morning light and late finishes to catch golden hour. We’ll move between urban and coastal locations, with some walking involved – Valletta’s streets aren’t vehicle-friendly, which is part of its charm.

Sessions will include practical direction on working with couples, composition in challenging spaces, and managing natural light in Mediterranean conditions. We’ll also cover the business side during downtime – pricing, client communication, and portfolio development. The workshop is hands-on and adaptable. If weather shifts or a location isn’t working, we adjust.
Small group size keeps things personal and ensures everyone gets proper attention and feedback on their work.

Hosts

Cole Roberts

Cole is the co-founder of Way Up North, Nordica, Hop Farm Beach and has been a Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2016. Living in Gävle, Sweden with his family, he often dreams of more time at his cabin, immersed in nature, chopping wood, and enjoying country music.

Included / Not-included

Malta International Airport is a short, inexpensive cab ride to Valletta – typically around €15. We won’t be coordinating airport transfers, but getting to and from the city is straightforward.

We will provide transportation during the workshop days, March 10th and 11th, moving between shooting locations around the island.

The evening of March 9th we’ll meet in Valletta for introductions and to walk through the shooting plan. March 10th and 11th are dedicated to photography from sunrise through evening light – expect long, productive days.

Accommodation in Valletta is your responsibility, and the workshop fee doesn’t include meals or drinks. Malta has good options at various price points, and we’re happy to share recommendations.

Want to Model in Malta?

We are seeking two couples to photograph during our Malta workshop. If you are a photographer or filmmaker and interested in this opportunity, please get in touch.

The arrangement is simple: you model on one day of the workshop and participate as a regular workshop attendee on the other day (when you’re not modelling). Naturally, you will receive copies of the photos. It’s best if couples bring their own wedding attire, but if that’s not possible, let us know and we can assist in arranging a dress. Your expenses will include flights, shared car rental, and accommodations. There are no fees for participating in the workshop itself.

If you are a photographer interested in this, contact us at [email protected].
