When + Where
Ponta Delgada will be our base for this workshop. Guests should plan to arrive at João Paulo II Airport (PDL) in São Miguel by **November 17th, 2025**. The workshop sessions are scheduled for November 18th and 19th, 2025, with no extra activities planned. The airport is just a short 5-minute drive from Ponta Delgada, so upon landing, a quick taxi ride will bring you to our gathering point.
Format & Locations
Over two days in São Miguel, we’ll conduct our workshop from dawn till dusk, featuring intensive photography sessions with a different couple each day. We’ll dive into São Miguel’s vibrant landscapes, allowing the natural beauty to dictate our daily itinerary to some of the island’s most breathtaking spots.
Our journey will take us through various scenic locales, adapting to the island’s charm. Highlights might include the legendary twin lakes of Sete Cidades, the rugged coastline at Mosteiros beach, and the tranquil waters of Furnas Lake. The workshop’s structure is fluid, responding to weather conditions and the day’s natural progression, ensuring that every location we visit adds a unique touch to your photographic work.
We have one couple confirmed and are arranging for another, ensuring participants leave with a portfolio enhanced by São Miguel’s stunning vistas.
Hosts
Cole Roberts
Cole, co-founder of Way Up North, Hop Farm Beach, Nordica, and a Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2016, resides in Gävle, Sweden with his family. He often dreams of retreating to his cabin where he can chop wood, light fires, and enjoy the tranquility with some country music.
Filipa Couto
Filipa, a talented wedding photographer from São Miguel, brings intimate knowledge of her island to our workshop. Her expertise was crucial during our inaugural workshop here in early 2024. We’re thrilled to have her back, sharing her passion and insider’s knowledge, which enriches the experience for all workshop attendees.
Included / Not-included
Please note that food, beverages, and travel to São Miguel are not part of the workshop package. On November 18th and 19th, 2025, we’ll handle transportation for the workshop activities. We suggest staying at Hotel Talisman, though participants are welcome to choose their own accommodations. We’ll establish a WhatsApp group for all attendees to facilitate coordination and discussion.
Couples
We’re seeking two couples for this event. Here’s how it works: one day you’ll be the focus of our photography, and the other day you’ll join as regular workshop guests. There’s no financial exchange involved, but you’ll be part of the workshop as our guests.
