I believe a photographer should be an experience, not a wallflower. In order to get the best out of my couples, I have to connect with them, make them feel at ease, make them feel comfortable enough to get intimate, make them laugh, have fun, let their guard down. Taking the actual shot is just a small part of my role as photographer; the art lies in drawing out the vulnerable, beautiful humanity and capturing the moment before it fades. I heard somewhere once that the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little bit extra. And photography as a medium is ruthlessly unforgiving if you can’t be bothered to make the effort. Trust me, in my experience, it’s always worth the effort.
