Two days on an island where volcanic cliffs drop straight into the Atlantic and the light does things you can’t replicate anywhere else. We’re running another Madeira workshop, and there are only two spots left.
Hosts
Taylor Jackson is co-hosting with Cole Roberts again. They’ve run workshops together in Iceland and Mallorca before, and now they’re heading together to Madeira. Two different teaching styles, same goal: help you shoot better. Taylor handles the technical breakdowns. Cole focuses on composition and storytelling.
TAYLOR JACKSON
Taylor Jackson is a Canadian wedding photographer and filmmaker who shoots both photo and video at weddings. The hybrid approach most photographers want to understand but haven’t figured out yet. He creates films for his YouTube channel (591k subscribers), sharing techniques and behind-the-scenes insights from his work. Taylor’s strength is making the transition from photo-only to hybrid coverage feel manageable rather than overwhelming.
COLE ROBERTS
Cole is the co-founder of Way Up North, Hop Farm Beach, Nordica and has been a Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2016. He lives in Gävle, Sweden with his wife and three kids. He wishes he spent more time at his cabin chopping wood and lighting fires while listening to country music.

This will be our sixth workshop on the island. We know the roads, the clifftops that catch the light just right at golden hour, and where to go when the popular spots get crowded. You spend less time driving around and more time shooting.
There’s a reason we keep returning, aside from the obvious stunning nature. Madeira is a wedding and elopement destination on the rise. Having it in your portfolio will, we hope, pay for itself with real bookings in a high-demand location.

Past Editions
We wouldn’t go as far as to say we’re locals. We’re not. But there’s something to be said for visiting a place enough times that you feel confident about where to go and when for the best photos possible. That part, we have dialled in. There’s also the advantage of arriving with excited eyes rather than familiar ones, which adds to the experience.
The Format
We photograph one couple each day during golden hour. Sunrise and sunset. Real couples in wedding attire, so your portfolio images look like actual weddings, not staged shoots. Maximum eight photographers. Midday breaks are for group discussions on business and creative development, but most of your energy goes toward shooting.

We recommend staying at Enotel Magnólia in Funchal. A WhatsApp group gets set up before the trip so you can coordinate with other attendees if you want to share rooms or rental cars.
